Greetings from Nick Hernon

May Medal

On Thursday we held our May Medal, poor weather conditions put the majority of members off playing so the turn out was below average.

Division 1 was won by Simon Raine who must have eventually had a good day with the putter! Simon had nett 70, S Bullin won division 2 with a nett 71, and G Hackett won division 3 with nett 73. S Shore had the best gross of the day with a brilliant score of 75 which was very good in difficult conditions! Well done to all winners.

Saturday Medal

Saturday saw the Saturday medal take place, G Lund won division 1 with nett 72, S Dhar had a cracking score 68 to win division 2, and G Hackett once again finished on top of division 3 with a nett 75. P Newell won best gross with a 79! Well done winners!

Sunday was the day of our big match against Sleaford. It was played at Stanton, and Sleaford praised the condition of our course. I played with Captain Andrew againt their Pro and Captain, unfortunately they played very well and we couldn't quite match them, so we lost our match but the team overall won so great result for Stanton!

Bank Holiday Texas Scramble

The Bank Holiday Competition was on Monday, and this saw another Texas Scramble take place, and the winners were Ian Ben and Jack Taylor plus John Sowter who shot a great score of 56.2, just ahead of Simon Dean, Phil Taylor, James Varney and Paul Sanders who came in with 56.5. Third place went to Jane Harby, Angus Gray, Will and Victoria Orr with 56.5 also, and fourth place went to Rich Drury, Tim Bateson, Russ Maltby and Neil Walton who shot 58.1.

The Seniors have played two matches this week. They lost away to Radcliffe 3 - 5 then hit back with a win away to Newark 4.5 - 3.5. It's the Notts amateur strokeplay on Saturday, and there is a strong field so there should be some good golf on show if you fancy coming down and taking a look.

No more faffing! Choose the right trolley bag

Last week we took a look at some fantastic new lightweight carry bags on the market. For those 36-hole days, however, a trolley bag may be a better option. Be careful though, for trolley bags are like referees - you only notice the bad ones. Thankfully, we have some super options in our shop...
