Greetings from Nick Hernon

The Notts Amateur Strokeplay

Last week saw torrential rain hit the course all week this wasn't ideal as we were holding the Notts Amatuer Strokeplay on Saturday, fortunately the weather cleared up for Saturday and the county got to enjoy some nice weather! The course was still wet though so placing had to be in place. Ross Overton from Sherwood Forest won in the play off after being tied on 5 under. Our best player was Charlie Banks who finished a few back at 2 over. The Notts Union were very impressed and grateful with how our course held up in unfortunate weather circumstances.

The Coronation Trophy

This week Stanton are holding the Coronation trophy, we have a slightly better entry than last year but there are still many spaces to be filled. Maybe it's the format that is putting people off from entering! Lets hope we have a Stanton winner this year!

The FT Hunt Cup

The FT Hunt Cup was played on Sunday, this is the parent and child competition or grandparent competition. We had 19 pairs take part which isnt a bad effort for this competition. The weather was remarkably nice with no wind and clear skies, so the conditions were perfect. Keith and Sam Horsley won, in second were Dave and Victoria Evans and Captain Andrew with son Eric third. Well done to all winners!

The Ladies results this week were for the William Ellis Bowl, and the winners were Margaret Ferguson and Sue Barber with 33 points, who won on countback from runners up Thelma Stocker and Joy Rubinstein who also scored 33 points. It looks like Sue's lesson on Monday is paying off.
