Summer Team Am-Am - Saturday, 12 August 2017

  • First place - Mark Nanda, Ian Welsh, Adam Randall and Paul Noble - 97 points.
  • Second place - Terry Linley, Nigel Featherstone, Thomas Davies and Ben Featherstone - 92 points.
  • Third place - Robert Rathbone, Victor Roberts, Tom Bagshaw and David Bagshaw - 91 points.
  • Fourth place - David Machin, Tim Lee, Tarun Mayor and Paul Jacklin - 90 points.
  • Fifth place - Ian Greatorex, Paul Fletcher, Martin Tweedie and Sam Costall - 89 points.

Ladies stableford

The winner of Division one in the ladies stableford was Elaine Shelton with 39 points. In Division two place was Jane Gilmore with 34 points and in Division three, Angela Gibson with 31 points.

Team news

All the latest...

The mixed social team played at Longcliffe on Sunday and they had an enjoyable day, but unfortunately losing a close match 2 - 4. The scratch team unfortunately also lost their latest match away at Rufford Park; only Sam Costal who was out first, managed a win and the team went down 1 – 4, so they will need to win at least one of their last two fixtures.

The Notts Alliance

The Notts Alliance is due to start again with the opening fixture being at Ramsdale on Thursday, 21 September. For those who don’t know what the Alliance is, it is around 13 fixtures at different courses throughout the county through the winter. There are individual prizes, Individual Senior prizes and team prizes on the day as well as Professional, Amateur and team order of merit. The top eight teams play in the Harry Brown Final at the end of the year. If you are interested in playing for the club or want any further information, please contact Mark in the Pro Shop.

Captains' away day

The captains away day headed off to Market Rasen golf club last Friday. The coach left at 8am and returned around 10pm. I can’t think what they were up to during all that time, but there were some very sore heads on Saturday morning collecting their cards from the pro shop. Well done to Dan Limon who won the day with a score of 35 points. Also congratulations go to Nigel Featherstone who had a hole in one at Market Rasen on the away day.

Choose the right ball

Not only is playing with the same model of golf ball each round important for your consistency, but you need to make sure that you’re taking to the course with a ball that suits your game and feel preferences. Comparing different balls is a great way to narrow down what you are after.

During a chat about your goals, price range and personal preferences we can make a few ball recommendations for you to go and try. Why not use the above scoring system when out on the course to determine which ball is best for your game?

Side-by-side testing should make it easier to notice any preferences you have, but if you don’t have a clear winner we’d always recommend prioritising the ball you prefer around the greens, as this is where you take the majority of your shots and what influences your final score the most.
