Pro's Comp

We had the Pros Comp last Saturday and thank you to all who entered.

The results are as followed:

Division one

  • 1st place - Douglas Tragheim and Ben Tragheim - 44 points Last 9 = 22 points winning £30 voucher.
  • 2nd place - Paul Griffin and Rae Porter - 44 points Last hole 3 points winning £20 voucher.
  • 3rd place - Nigel Featherstone and Kevin Vamplew - 44 points Last hole 2 points winning £10 voucher.

Division two

  • 1st place - Rhona Nanda and Tracey Galt - 46 points winning £30 voucher.
  • 2nd place - Sershin Djafer and Ranjit Bhabra - 45 points winning £20 voucher.

Ladies' 15 Hole Stableford Competition

The results of the Ladies’ 15 Hole Stableford Competition played on Tuesday, 9th January are as follows:

The latest update!

The course is in good condition as we start to the new year so we still ask to continue this that carrying is preferred and there is still no ride on buggies allowed – the 5th is still closed as we let the green settle a little longer to make it perfect.

Challenge match

Captain John and myself had a challenge match last Sunday the first for a while and we took on Stan Dziuba and Clive Ledger. We got off to a fast start going three up after three and held on to win on the 17th good company and very pleasant weather.

PING Max out their range

The current line-up of G400 drivers from PING is fantastic, with a Low Spin model (LST) for a lower launch and greater speed, a Straight Flight version (SFT) for a higher launch that helps correct a slice, and the Standard version that sits somewhere between the two. Dispersion affects aim

Last week we dispelled the myth that custom fitting is only for low-handicap golfers – if you didn’t give it a read then make sure you do! Regardless of your ability, one of the key focuses during any iron fitting will be your dispersion and here’s why it’s so important.

Where do you aim?
As you can see in the image above, a player adopting a more aggressive strategy, highlighted in red, brings the water more into play. We would always recommend in this situation to aim for the middle of the green, as shown in white, to reduce the chance of racking up a big number. This more conservative strategy also gives you a greater margin for error should you mishit your shot.

Learning your dispersion averages and where your common miss is at a custom fitting will only help you in these situations.
