As many of you will be aware, last week Stanton's best putter in the club competition took place. Dan set up an 18 hole course on the putting green, and with just over 50 entries, the event was a great success. Unfortunately Simon Raine had the best score of the week with 29 putts! Well done Simon.
The Thursday Medal saw some low scoring in Division 1. Gary Pike won the best nett and gross with a 73 nett 68.
In Division 2, Fred Brown won with (83-17) 66 nett, and in Division 3, J Rampton won with (97-26) 71 nett.

Saturday saw the scratch finals and medal take place, Garry Lund had the best nett score of the day with a fantastic 64 playing off 10 which also won him the lowest gross of the day. Another well done on the compeition front to Hugo Tuttey who won the junior stableford compeition on Friday with 39pts, we know how happy he was after his round so we'd like to say well done again to him and hope he continues to play well.
Rob Ward played the final of the Cripps Cup in the week against Simon Dean and came out victorious, so congratulations to him and well done to Simon for his getting to the final.
In store this week we have now taken delivery of the new Callaway Big Bertha which is an up to date version of the first metal wood a lot of people would have first had in their bag. It is a great looking club and comes with a top of the range light weight shaft so the club plays very long. Come in and give them a try, or book in on the launch monitor and see how far you can hit it.

With less than a month to go until the Ryder Cup some of us are in our own matchplay mode. Going head to head in matchplay format can make a pleasant change to the grind of the sometimes monotonous mission of grinding out as many Stableford points as possible, or compiling a decent medal round.
Knowing that a bad shot will lead to one lost hole at worst can help free us up; give us the confidence to go for our shots safe in the knowledge that we've not 'wrecked' our scorecard. Remember though that there are different tactics involved when it comes to matchplay golf - so if you'd like a bit of help and advice click here to ask a question or pop in and see us.
Enjoy the Ryder Cup build-up and good luck in any matchplay events of your own that you have lined up.
