Well this week the sun has been shining but it hasn't been very warm, hopefully we will have some warmer weather soon. The course is starting to take shape and lots of you have taken this opportunity to get out there and play your knockout matches. We have been receiving plenty of reports of close matches which has been great to hear.
Saturday saw the Ernest Gray foursomes qualifier take place, a few showers throughout the day made the course play a little tougher. Gordon McGraw and Glenn Messom were the winners on the day with a nett score of 72. The two lowest gross scores of the day were 77 shot by Sam Horsley and Sam Costall, Kevin Vamplew and Anthony Collings.
Well done to all the twos winner's in the Ernest Gray, John Jenkins & Dan Limon, Neil Evans & Jes Smallwood, Tom Coole & Jack Richardson, Matthew Goulding & Mick Layton, Colin Borwell & Gordon McClay.
As we didn't mention last week a congratulations is in order as member Dave Button got a hole in one.
On Monday, 4 May was the Bank Holiday Monday competition which was a betterball stableford off ¾ handicap. R Combellack and J Mounser won the mens division with a superb 43 points and S Malson and D Oldham won the mixed division.

Assistant Professionals Richard Dunsby & Tom Rowe would like you to encourage our junior Golfers
Let's Get Our Juniors Into Golf!
Junior Coaching Sessions Are Starting Very Soon
We need all your encouragement as our Juniors are our future stars
I would just like to introduce myself to the junior section I am the new Assistant PGA Professional Richard Dunsby, and alongside Tom, our other Assistant PGA Professional, qw will be working hard to bring the junior section together to become the best in the area.
This year Richard and Tom will be running junior coaching sessions on a weekly basis and it would be beneficial for everyone to attend. The coaching sessions will take place every Saturday between the hours of 1pm-2pm depending on the number of juniors that participate. The times and group sizes may vary, until we have children signed up for the sessions and attending. We need responses from everyone so these coaching sessions can be put into place as soon as possible.
We are aiming the coaching sessions at all ages and all standards of junior from beginner through to low handicapped juniors. We want all the juniors together so they can all help each other. We want to encourage all juniors whether they are members or not so please bring along friends and relatives.
The coaching sessions will be made fun and productive so everyone can enjoy the experience of our junior coaching sessions. Week by week we will follow a process that with practice will pay off in the long run for the junior's golf game.
They will all learn the basic fundamentals (if they don't already know them) covering all aspects of the game. Putting, chipping, pitching, iron play and driving. The juniors will also learn the importance of rules, etiquette and sportsmanship.
Richard and Tom need responses as soon as possible so the coaching sessions can get underway, so the deadline for securing your placement will be Sunday, 17 May. Please respond via email (pgardunsby@gmail.com) telephone (0115 9372390) or visit the professional shop with payment to secure their placement. Once the closing date has been reached informing emails and phone calls will be made.
The 6 sessions will cost £30 per person. When the 6 sessions are completed another 6 sessions will continue providing the juniors sign up. On completion of the 6th session, certificates will be issued for the hard work and progress of the junior. The juniors then will be issued with a report of what they need to do to improve their performance and what feedback they want to add.
We look forward to seeing you soon
Regards,
Assistant PGA Professionals Richard Dunsby & Tom Rowe
