For me, the golf season well and truly starts on the Masters weekend which is here at last! It's always a great spectacle to watch, and will be the talking point of the club for the next week or so. In the shop we will be running a special Masters promotion to get your game in shape for the upcoming season.

Well done to Craig Watson and Mark Ellison who won Saturdays Presidents Trophy with a score of 7up. Steve Shore and Ian Harbey came second with 6up, and in third with 5up was David Mee and Matt Goulding.
On Sunday, the business Ladies had a match against Rushcliffe, and the game ended up all square.
Also congrats go to Neil Franklin who last week won the Rolls Royce national knockout tournament winning on the first extra hole at Beeston Fields in the final, winning the President's Trophy.
Vic Truman, Martin Hathway, Pete Hartley and myself played at Blackwell in another winter series competition on Monday. Blackwell is a fantastic course just outside of Birmingham that is very exclusive and has a lot of history so if you ever get the chance to play there I would definitely recommend it.
On Monday, we had the second county event of the year here which was the NCLGA county waltz, and we received great feedback about the course which is always good to hear, especially after the amount of rain we had over the winter.

Bridgestone Ball Fitting Day
Finally the Bridgestone ball fit day is booked for Thursday the 24th of April between 12 and 4 o'clock so we are now taking bookings. Please contact us in store, or click here to get in touch, and we can reserve a time for you. It only takes around 10 minutes for the fit, and as we know from doing ball fits on our launch monitor, getting the right type of ball for your swing can gain you a tremendous advantage with control around the green, and distance gain with your long game,. It's absolutely FREE, so what have you got to lose, nothing, and you will definitely gain from the advice.
The next time you miss a makeable putt, give yourself a break. Boffins tell us that on an 8ft putt, your blade has only to be one degree open or shut at impact for the ball to miss the hole.
Putter makers realise this, of course, and our shop selection employs the latest aim-enhancing designs and cosmetics. Some like to see down-the-line assistance; others find squaring-up markings more useful. Today's ranges cater for both. If you've never considered which suits your eye, we'd urge you to. Better still, come and talk to us about it. It could save you a lot of lip-out pain.
Also, consider how well you strike the putt. A heel strike closes the blade; a toe strike opens it. The putter's length plays a role here. A good length allows a set-up that promotes a solid, centred strike. The best way to ensure you get this right is to pay us a visit. We'll be delighted to help.
