Last week we had both the midweek and the Saturday medals and medals finals which saw some great scoring in perfect sunny conditions. Shaun Bullin won the overall midweek medal and Division 1 in the medals finals with a great net 67 and Tony Ellis won the second division in the medals final with a nett 70.
Paul Shephard took the second division in the medal itself with a nett 69 and Brian Hunt won the third division with nett 71. On Saturday Adam Randall took the first division and overall with a brilliant nett 65, Simon Brown claimed the second division with nett 67 and Nick Land was top of the third division with nett 68 so as you can see, some pretty good scoring! Also another congratulations to Sam Horsley who won both Thursdays and Saturdays lowest gross with 74 and 72 which has now got his handicap down to 1.
Seniors beat Kirby Muxloe 4.5 - 3.5 on Monday to get back on the winning trail and the mixed team beat Chesterfield on Sunday 5 - 3 so well played to them also.
In the Ladies July stableford, the winners were as follows:
Div1 D Hardwick 40 points
Div2 E Manton 40 points
Div 3 M Slater
Finally we have just heard that two of my pupils Stuart Robinson and Richard Pulley won the Seniors open at Kirby Muxloe last week with a score of 44 points a great performance proof that lessons do work.
After a long time planning and scheduling we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Putting compeition this year which if supported and successful will continue as an annual event. Simon Raine is the man behind the idea and has been working hard to get it up and running, I will try to explain it as well as I can; on August bank holiday there will be a putting compeition running along with the bank holiday compeition with a £1 entry to win a prize on the evening and to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, there will also be three more chances to enter on Tuesday 26th, Thursday 28th and Saturday 30th of August. Putting cards will be available in the shop on these day at a cost of £1 (max one entry per day per person, four chances per person)
The best 16 scores after these four qualifying stages will progress to a knockout compeition which has been proposed for either Friday 26th or Saturday 27th September. This will involve a round robin type tournament with 4 stations on 4 greens on the course, each person will complete the full 16 stations and the top 4 after this will then move to the 9th green for the final.
The winner will receive a trophy, their name on the board and a shirt.
I have tried my best to explain the format but I understand theres a lot to take in, if your not sure just pop in the shop and we'll explain more. We're really hoping it a succesful day as it would be a great fun thing to get up and running.
In the shop Henry was away golfing last week in the Midland Masters at Kedleston playing 36 holes in 27+ degrees! He finished 26th out of 80+ players which was more than respectable in a strong field.
With the upcoming arrival of the PING G30 wood range we still have some stock of the G25 range which we are open to deals on if you are thinking of changing a club or adding something new to the bag.
