The season is officially underway... Wow, what a Bank Holiday we had this year with-it being 24 degrees on Saturday for the Presidents Trophy. The season is now in full swing with the seniors playing two matches against Radcliffe on Trent and also playing an away match against Scraptoft. Best of luck to the seniors this year, the ladies have also been busy in recent weeks two match’s taskers against Belton Park and also played a Ladies gold league match against Ruddington. This week also saw the first ‘Fun comp ‘of the year, a 9-hole two ball scramble. This was won by Mr and Mrs Branson. The next fun comp will be held on Friday, 17 May; open to all members. Sign-up sheet available online two Thursdays before or if you’re looking for someone to play with pop into the pro shop and well try get you a partner.

First Pro-Am of the year... This week I played in my first Pro-Am of the year at Worksop Golf Club. I’d like to thank members Billy Kevan, Simon Roff and Graham Adani for their support and playing in my team. Each of them played some lovely golf but shot of the day goes to Graham who on the 14th Par-5 hit a lovely hybrid onto the green in two with a 10ft putt for eagle. We played very well as a team and even with a few silly dropped shots we posted a very respectful score of seven under. The next event is Thursday, 23 May at Ramsdale Park, Calverton. If any members would like to play these events let me know, it’s a great way to play lovely golf course but also to meet and play with fellow members.

Stanton vs Nottinghamshire Police golf team On Wednesday, 17 April, Stanton took on the Nottinghamshire Police golf team in their annual fixture and it was a great match. The Captain and I took on their captain and vice-captain in a nail-biting match. We were four down with four to play and even with three birdies in the last four from myself, and a great nett birdie from the captain on 17th this wasn’t enough to win our match and we lost one down. The overall result was 3-3. The Police team took time to say how lovely the golf course was and they really enjoyed the fish and chips supper after the match.

Keep a watch on your game |
Technology: it’s a word that scares some of us whilst excites others. When it comes to technology in golf, there’s no question that it has helped evolve the way we play the game for the better. For example, GPS golf watches really do make knowing how far you have left to the green or hazards as simple as quick glance at your wrist. |
Introducing Garmin's Approach S40 watch First of all, this GPS watch is multi-functional and super stylish making it the ideal companion as your everyday smartwatch and game-changing piece of tech out on the course. Over 41,000 pre-loaded worldwide courses feature with precise distances to greens, hazards and doglegs displayed on its colour touchscreen. The S40 really is a stunning watch and unbelievably practical. Find out more by clicking on the link below.
