A busy week at Stanton on the Wolds... We have had another very busy week at Stanton on the Wolds this week. Tuesday saw the Ladies Invitation which gave the lady members the opportunity to show off our lovely golf course to their friends. There was a lot of positive feedback from the day and a big thank you to Dan Branson and his team as the golf course was looking truly lovely on Tuesday. Wednesday evening the combined team was away at Newark in another great fixture between the clubs. If any members would like to take part in these club matches, there is a signup sheet in clubhouse. Friday we also hosted Maggie’s Charity day, the day was a great success. Just a gentle reminder that tomorrow the golf course will be closed for preparation for the Coronation Trophy on Saturday. The course will be closed from 1pm. Would be great if the winning pair were two Stanton members again after Paul Flecher and Ian Greatorex impressive victory last year. Also, on Sunday, the Nottinghamshire County First team are playing a match against Derbyshire. The first tee will be closed from 9:15am to 10:45am and again from 1pm to 3pm.

Rules corner
In January, the R&A made serval changes to the rules of golf. One of the new rules states that if a ball goes out of bounds during a round, then a player may drop the ball from knee height in a location that can be agreed by his or her fellow competitors to be deemed the nearest possible place where the ball when out of bounds instead of walking by the tee box and playing three off the tee.
The Pro Shop would like to confirm that whilst playing in a club competition this rule does not apply. If your ball goes out of bounds in a competition, a player must walk back to where the shot was taken from and to deem it as your third-shot. The new rule only applies in general play. If a player is ever uncertain about a ball is in bounds or not after they have hit their tee-shot, I would advise that in this situation you always hit a provisional ball just in case. This also keeps the pace of play going.
