Sam takes the bragging rights... I’d like to start this week’s newsletter by congratulating Sam Horsley who won the Club Championship on Saturday as he managed to beat Scott Hamilton in a playoff after they both shot a 36-hole score of four-under-par. It’s impressive to say that the greens were running at a very fast 13.2 on the stimp metre. Considering all the rain over the last couple of weeks, I think it’s fair to say the greens along with the rest of the golf course are in amazing condition. A big thank you to Dan and his staff for their work they have done over the last week to get the course ready for the competition.

Monthly captains 9-hole fun competition... Friday saw the monthly Captains 9-hole fun competition which was two clubs and a putter. Andrew Tuckwell won this with an incredible score of 23 points; I believe the clubs he picked was a hybrid and a 7-iron. After a late dropout, Seb also took part in the competition and he would like to thank Andrew, Zoe Scott and Helena Bottomley for the game - he really enjoyed himself. The next fun competition will be held on Friday, 19 July - if you’d like to play, the sign-up sheet will be available online two weeks before.

Combined Team On Tuesday, the Combined Team took on Radcliffe on Trent at Home. The Captain and Seb played their Captain Darren and Club Manager Karl. In a great match where the captain played particularly well they won two up and the team won 5-3. Great result team. If you would like to take part in the club matches, sign-up sheets are available on the online platform. Everyone is welcome.

Promotion hopes still alive... Well done to the seniors who played against Scraptoft on Monday morning with a score finishing 4-4. The Scratch Team beat Radcliffe at home on Monday evening 3 – 2 to keep their promotion hopes alive. Captain Peter and I played Geoff Hilton and Peter Esselmont on Sunday morning and we had a very good match with some very low scoring; we never quite got our noses in front and lost a very tight game one down.
|
New half-way house... The new half-way house was officially opened on Sunday evening by the Twidale family and our two captains after a fun 9-hole Texas Scramble competition won by Anne and Chris Goodwin. There was a good turn-out for the event and we just about managed to avoid the rain. |
