I hope you all enjoyed the Masters this week, I actually managed to stay awake on Sunday evening to see the finish. Jordan Spieth played some fantastic golf and was a deserved winner. We ran our sweepstake differently this year and you could choose your own player, we have some very astute judges of golfer or some professional gamblers in the club as more people picked Speith than any other player.
The winners of the sweep were J Carr, M Baggley, D Monk, T Simms, C Baugh, M McWhinney & T Meadows who all backed Speith. Those who had their money on Mickleson and Rose were P Sharp, B Robson, A Hall, S Marston, N Benny (on both), G Higgins, and C Baugh who also backed the winner.
Well done to all the winners the money has been credited to all your accounts.
Well done to the winners of the Thursday Medal. In Division 1 T Lindley (80 9 71) came out on top, Division 2 saw M Adams (83 13 70) emerge victorious and in Division 3 D Mortimer (85 22 63)came top with a fantastic score, and it looks like the handicap committee have caught up with him already.
On Saturday we had the Captain v Vice Captain match. The winners of the Captains team were P Norris & R Tigg with 44 points and the winners in the Vice Captains team were S Pygal & B Dawson with 40 points.
The overall points total was incredibly close with the Vice Captains team just edging it with 1413 points to the Captains team score of 1393 so there were just 20 points in it.
A special mention goes to Arthur Robinson who managed to score a 2 nett 1 on the 14th hole on Saturday.
The ladies interclub knockout team played at Norwood Park against Beeston Fields on Monday and pulled off a great victory finishing 1 up overall. Beeston are always a tough team to beat so well done ladies the team consisting of; Louise Spray, Helena McCannah, Kathy Burnside and Jan Hooley.
Not such good newas from the mixed match who played at Chesterfield in the rainy conditions on Sunday going down 6.5 - 1.5.
