Warmer weather this week has dramatically helped the course out. We are now getting some growth on the greens which has resulted in a better playing surface.

Saturday saw the Spring Meeting being played, yet again we had a full start sheet which is brilliant to have so many competitive golfers playing. Keith Hammond and Alan Cairns proved to be the best pair of the day when they posted a score of 45 points. Runners up were John Shelton and Mike Styles with 42 points.

Sunday saw the Presidents Jubilee Cup being played, not the best entry here unfortunately. Carol and Maurice Hume had the best score in this with 36 points.

Application forms are available in the professional shop, request by email and also published on the clubs website. Please can members forward this message on to family members and friends.

New Assistant Professional Richard Dunsby settling in nicely

If you haven't already met Richard, here is a quick introduction:

I would just like to introduce myself to the juniors Section. I am the new Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club Assistant PGA Professional, Richard Dunsby. Tom Rowe, the other Assistant PGA Professional, and I will be working together this year to assist the Junior Section by running Junior coaching sessions on a weekly basis, and we believe it will be beneficial for everyone to attend.

The coaching sessions will take place every Saturday between the hours of 1pm-2pm depending on the number of juniors that participate. The times and group sizes may vary, and will be decided as soon as we have participants signed up for the sessions and attending.

We need responses from everyone so these coaching sessions can be put into place as soon as possible.

We are aiming the coaching sessions at all ages and all standards of Junior from beginner through to low-handicappers.

We want the all the juniors together so they can all help each other. We want to encourage all juniors whether they are Members or not, so please bring along friends and relatives!

The coaching sessions will be made fun and productive so everyone can enjoy the experience of our junior coaching sessions. Week by week we will follow a process that, with practice, will pay off in the long run for the junior's golf game.

They will all learn the basic fundamentals (if they don't already know them) covering all aspects of the game. Putting, chipping, pitching, iron play and driving. The juniors will also learn the importance of The Rules of Golf, etiquette and sportsmanship.

We need responses as soon as possible so the coaching sessions can get underway. The deadline for securing your placement will be this Sunday, 17 May. Please respond via email (pgardunsby@gmail.com - telephone 0115 9372390) or visit the Professional's shop with payment to secure a placement. Once the closing date has been reached, informing emails will be sent and phone calls will be made.

When the 6 sessions are completed, another 6 sessions will continue providing the Juniors sign up. On completion of the 6th session certificates will be issued for the hard work and progress of the Junior. The Juniors then will be issued with a report of what they need to do to improve their performance and what feedback they want to add.
